Tarpaulin is known to have very good mechanical properties. Because of their structure, clear tarpaulin films are highly diffusive, making them a good replacement for conventional PE greenhouse cover in areas that are prone to hail, or have high-speed wind gusts. The films’ superior mechanical properties also make them suitable as a replacement for the thick HDPE geomembrane, and for use as pond liners.
The production of high-quality tarpaulin involves several complex production methods. For this application, Tosaf has designed special additives that are suitable for high extrusion temperatures with low plate out.
High chemical resistance UV
Tarpaulin films are produced at very high extrusion temperatures at which the market’s benchmark for UV with high chemical resistant is not stable. We have developed a UV MB that is suitable for these process temperatures, while also giving good UV stability to the polymer when high levels of pesticides are used.
There are three stages to tarpaulin production: the production of the HDPE tapes, weaving, and LDPE coating. The tapes and the coating may not contain the same UV and the masterbatch producer will need to recommend the best UV/polymer combination for each process. For a white MB to be suitable for tarpaulin, it must contain an outdoor white pigment, the carrier polymer should be low smoke and a unique AO package should be used. We combine all of the above to offer a white MB that will perform well during extrusion, and also increase the useful life of the tarpaulin.Ask For Sample
