PE and PP raffia is used in a wide range of applications, such as PP bags, Rachel bags, shade nets, laminated PP bags, greenhouse twines, and Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC or ‘big bags’).

FIBC bags are most often made of thick woven polypropylene fabric (usually 70-250 GSM), either coated or uncoated. Their qualities of strength, flexibility, resistance, product protection, space optimization and handling agility make them suitable for packaging dry, flowable products like sand, fertilizer and plastic granules.

Our extensive experience working with packaging additives and polypropylene fabric has enabled us to develop a wide range of additives to cover your specific needs.

The process sensitivity of raffia production makes the selection of masterbatch critically important. Our UV masterbatches are designed to reduce water carry-over (WCO) and to maintain high retention. Our colors are developed from high-heat-resistant pigments with good dispersion, and our white masterbatch contains outdoor TiO2, to prevent polymer degradation and yellowish effect.

UV

Polyolefins are sensitive to UV light, which can cause significant damage to plastics. Each polymer has a different minimal absorption peak in the UV range, and its expected life will depend on the irradiation level to which it is exposed, its thickness and the additives it contains. Our innovative UV stabilizers prevent physical degradation, such as loss of tensile strength, elongation property and impact strength, and are designed to minimize water carry-over (WCO) during production. Sharing with you our knowhow and years of experience, we will advise you which UV to use, and how to use it. We can offer food-approved or non-food-approved UV, in a natural form or as combibatch (mixed with white).

Anti-Static

Polyolefin materials are not conductive, so they accumulate static electricity which can cause films to stick to each other or other surfaces, pick up dust, and even suddenly discharge as sparks, causing fires. Our anti-static masterbatches contain migrating molecules which migrate to the surface and attract a thin layer of water molecules from the air, which is sufficiently conductive to dissipate the charge. Our wide range of masterbatches meet different needs, making them suitable for use in a variety of relative humidity levels, from dry to high moisture. We can also offer permanent anti-static.

Color

For a color masterbatch to be suitable for this application, it must contain pigments with high light fastness, weatherability and dispersion to avoid tears in the tapes and monofilaments. Our high-quality color masterbatch gives producers these properties.

Most FIBC bags sold in the world have either a natural or white color. We offer high-quality, outdoor-based TiO2 masterbatches, that are critical for providing long-lasting, strong, uniform white coloring for FIBC fabrics.

FR

In light of new regulations around the world regarding flame-retardant additives, our high concentration FR masterbatches for FIBC, including halogen-based products as well as very low bromine additives, provide self-extinguishing properties that have good compatibility with UV stabilizers.
